The Shattered World
Little can be said of the Independent Sovereignty of Cleardale; to call it “unassuming” would be giving it too much credit.
Cleardale started as a simple farming homestead; the surprisingly fertile earth attracted more homesteaders, who in turn attracted a few aspiring entrepreneurs.
Today, the island of Cleardale hosts roughly a dozen homesteads — all of them farms — as well as a general store/feed store, a blacksmith (both run by the same proprietor and his son), and the Horse’s Piss, a small inn and tavern. The island sees little regular ship traffic, making booking travel to or from it difficult.
The people are generally independent-minded, but are courteous to — if not welcoming of — strangers.
A rope-pulled ferry connects Cleardale to a small neighboring island which serves as its graveyard.
